Roof

How It Works

There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to a home’s roof. Beneath the shingle, tile or metal roofing you’ll find an underlayment, sheathing, support structure, ventilation system and - in some cases - insulation. A properly maintained roof protects your home from the elements and improves energy efficiency.

What Can Go Wrong?

A poorly ventilated roof can decrease energy efficiency and cause moisture problems. Excess moisture may compromise attic insulation and support structure or lead to mold growth.

Damaged roof covering can lead to water leaks into the roof structure or the rooms below. Water can cause extensive damage to walls, ceilings and portions of the roof.

Environmental Impact

A well-installed roof can save you a significant sum on your heating and cooling bills. Proper construction and ventilation allows your roof to retain heat in the winter and repel heat in the summer, saving you 20 percent or more on cooling costs (estimated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency).
